Gardening on Island Bluffs

This entirely new class will address such questions as, "What's growing on my bluff? How do I protect my investment? Why should I save my trees? How can I have a view? What is the right thing to plant? How do I find out?" These challenges and more will be discussed. The presenters will provide take-home information on specialists to contact, native plant lists, sources for purchasing and further research ideas.

Duane and Sue Hoekstra are active in WSU Beach Watchers of Island County, Shore Stewards and the Native Plant Society, passionately engaged in implementing a native plant buffer on their Camano Island bluff property.

"We are bringing several examples of potted native plants," Sue Hoekstra said.
